Clark County Resident Donates Unrestricted Gift to WSU Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Washington State University Vancouver has received a $200,000 unrestricted donation from the estate of Dorothy Bray. The donation will be used to establish the WSU Vancouver Annual Endowed Fund.

Bray, who passed away in February 2004, believed that WSU Vancouver was a great asset to southwest Washington and that her contribution would assist students in their pursuit of higher education.

“We are delighted and grateful to Dorothy for contributing such a wonderful gift to WSU Vancouver,” said Harold A. Dengerink, chancellor of WSU Vancouver. “Unrestricted gifts of this size are not common. We appreciate the support of community members like Dorothy who continue to help WSU Vancouver expand access to higher education in southwest Washington.”

A lifelong Clark County resident, Bray graduated from Camas High School in 1928 and found employment with the Camas Paper Mill. She later worked as a cashier at the Red Steer Restaurant in Portland, where she met her future husband, Earl Bray. The Brays owned and operated the Vancouver Livestock Auction until Earl’s death in 1972.

WSU Vancouver offers 15 bachelor’s and eight master’s degrees in more than 35 fields of study. The campus is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134^th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205.
