PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State University friend and supporter Darl Roberts of Pullman was presented a WSU Foundation Outstanding Service Award during the foundation’s annual awards luncheon Oct. 7 on the Pullman campus.

As a WSU volunteer for more than 30 years, Roberts served on the WSU Foundation Board of Trustees (1997-2003) and was a member of the Gift Acceptance (1997-2003) and Planned Gift (2001-2003) committees. He was also a member of the Martin Stadium Builders Executive Board (1971-1983) and is a Friend of the YMCA and Friend of The Libraries at WSU.

In addition to his substantial volunteer efforts for WSU, Roberts has been a generous contributor since 1971 and has supported WSU at the President’s Associate giving level (gifts of $1,000 or more annually) since 1996. He and his wife, Star, were also part of the core leadership group who planned and executed the fund raising for the Bill Chipman Palouse Trail and Downtown Pullman Riverwalk projects.

“Darl’s commitment to Washington State University and the city of Pullman has been invaluable in helping to maintain the healthy relationship between the university and the community,” said WSU Foundation President Richard Frisch. “His enthusiastic leadership has made a very real impact on the campus and throughout the community.”

Roberts is president and owner of Associated Brokers in Pullman. He and his wife have three children who attended WSU -- Kimberly Welling (B.A., education, 1985), Kathi McMillan and Robert Bafus.

The WSU Foundation Outstanding Service Awards are given annually as a public testimonial to individuals who have made outstanding singular or collective contributions in service to the WSU Foundation and WSU.

Also receiving Outstanding Service Awards in 2004 are Jeffrey Gordon of Pasco, Douglas Grim of Portland, Ore., Wallis and Marilyn Kimble of Kingston and Frances Knox of Richland.
