PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University President Elson S. Floyd recently received the WSU Alumni Association (WSUAA) Honorary Alumnus Award.
Created in 1966, it is the highest honor given to non-alumni by the WSUAA.
"This is a tremendous honor,” Floyd said. "I am touched by your thoughtfulness and grateful for this award.”
Immediately after his selection as WSU’s 10th president, Floyd and his wife, Carmento, became WSUAA Life Members. They were among the first to become Platinum Life Members last fall when the new level of membership was launched.
Floyd’s tenure as president coincides with a period of growth and achievement by the WSUAA. It has doubled membership; increased engagement efforts - with more than 500 events per year; launched Career Support Services; expanded outreach and communication programs; and established a citizen-advocacy program, WSU Impact.
