PULLMAN, Wash. – Scott Garrepy has accepted the position of director of development for Washington State University's International Programs. Garrepy will be the first full-time person to hold this role for WSU.

Lance LeLoup, vice provost of International Programs, said, “As WSU seeks to fulfill an increasingly global mandate, a key part of our effectiveness will stem from our ability to match our vision with the priorities of various government, corporate, and foundation funding sources as well as individual supporters.”

International Programs has a 40 year track record of international engagement. Sustainable development work has produced lasting impact on locations in Africa and the Middle East, with a dozen projects currently underway on four continents. Over 600 students are learning abroad, with numbers increasing by double digits each year. WSU also serves a diverse population of nearly 2,000 international students, scholars, and faculty that further enrich the academic and social environment.

Garrepy will be based at WSU West in downtown Seattle and will play a pivotal role in foundation activities in Seattle, while focusing on fund-raising for International Programs as well as cultivating relationships with philanthropic partners throughout the northwest region.

LeLoup said, “We are extremely fortunate to have attracted a development professional of the caliber of Scott Garrepy. His energy and experience will build resources and constituent support, helping us further internationalize WSU and extend our global reach.”

Garrepy’s professional career includes a depth of experience in business management, organizational development and fundraising strategy, with strong ties to the Seattle-area community. He has 15 years experience working in senior fundraising positions for several not-for-profit organizations and has led successful campaigns for clients such as the Intiative for Global Development, Mercy Corps, GreaterGood.com, Seattle Opera, and most recently served as a Fundraising Consultant with Newbridge Partners.

International Programs Director Emeritus, Robert Harder, helped build a foundation for the new development director over the past two years based on his extensive contacts among WSU alumni and the international community.
