Oboist and English hornist Keri E. McCarthy is the featured recitalist for the evening. The concert will highlight premieres of two new works: ...and I will love the silence... for English horn and cello, by WSU composition faculty, Aleksander Sternfeld-Dunn, and Rhythmic Flowers for oboe, violin, cello, and piano, by Thai composer, Weerachat Premenanda. The program also includes works from the twentieth-century for oboe and English horn, including Benjamin Britten’s Six Metamorphoses After Ovid, Aaron Copland’s Quiet City, and Cyril Scott’s Idyllic Fantasy.
Performing faculty include Keri E. McCarthy, oboe and English horn; David Turnbull, trumpet; Julie Wieck, soprano; Meredith Arksey, viola; Ruth Boden, cello; and Jeffrey and Karen Savage, piano.
Tickets will be available at the door and are free for WSU students with ID, $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors. All proceeds go the WSU School of Music Scholarship Fund.
